Professional Goals

Professional goals are a dynamic topic for me. For the longest time, I held firmly to the standard structure of organizational hierarchy. Therefore, my goals was always focused on moving up to the next level in my existing organization. However, I have since realized that professional advancement, while important, is not the driving force behind my professional life. Instead, my professional goals relate to continuous personal development - both in my current role and future roles as well.

In fact, it was in the spirit of personal development that I have reconnected with my formal education. Having reached the role of store manager for Starbucks Coffee Company, I came to understand that my growth was not limited to the resources provided by my organization. I have been able to connect with and effectively utilize my existing experience through implementation of Organizational Leadership strategies. My time at ASU has provided me with a forum for personal reflection and future planning. Who I am as a leader ties very closely into who I am as an individual regardless of my formal role.  In that regard, my professional goal is simply to be a better leader, follower, mentor for as many people as possible. Someday, that goal may lead me away from retail management and into a more human focused environment, but only time will tell.

As an interesting element of that future progress, a fictional ten-year plan places me far outside my current role in retail. Feel free to review one of my possible future outcomes!
